What we actually do

For website statistics we use privacy-friendly measurement that is entirely cookie-free and stores no personal data. We only see anonymised counts: which pages and documents are viewed how often.

Functional storage

We store one small piece of data locally in your browser: whether you have dismissed the help notice at the top, so it does not keep coming back. That stays on your device and is not sent anywhere.

External services

If you sign up for the newsletter, that goes through MailerLite. For that, see our privacy statement.

Videos (YouTube)

There are a few videos in the chapters. They do not load automatically: you first see a still preview image with the title. That image is fetched from YouTube, which does make your IP address visible to them, but at that moment no cookies are placed. Only when you click play does the video itself load, and YouTube places cookies and similar technologies in order to show the video, and possibly to measure your viewing behaviour. So you give permission for that yourself, video by video.

For this we use youtube-nocookie.com, the variant that collects less data than the regular player. YouTube is a Google service. What they do with that data is set out in their own privacy policy. If you want to avoid this entirely, simply don’t play the videos; the text of every chapter stands completely on its own.
