#EchtMannelijk is a Dutch movement that wants to change the picture of what a man is supposed to be. From an early age, men learn the same rules: always be strong, never doubt, stay in control. Those rules exhaust them, and in the extreme they make women unsafe. About three in four men no longer endorse that norm, and yet together we keep it in place: at home, at work and in the locker room. That figure comes from Australian research among more than 3,500 men; a Dutch measurement does not yet exist. That is why the movement targets the source instead of the consequences. The movement was developed by The Nami Foundation and has the ambition to grow into a national partnership: the RealStrength Alliance.
